Heading back to the East Coast after Indian Wells, CA, the tour returned for the 6th year to Greenwich and the spectacular, historic Westchester Country Club. To start the weekend, participants gathered at the scenic Delamar Hotel, in Greenwich, for a private dinner party.
While enjoying a lunch buffet at WCC on Saturday, French Open doubles champions, the Jensen brothers, took on Brian MacPhie, a former top 20 doubles player and Rick Leach, a multiple grand slam doubles champion. Masters at entertaining the spectators, the 4 players delighted everyone with an on-court combination of skill & talent along with plenty of laughs! Players then took to the courts for the first 2 rounds of the pro/am.
Following the matches, players and their guests gathered at the beautiful home of Dani and Ted Virtue, for one of their fabulous parties. Everyone enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres before watching an amazing fireworks display!
After lunch on Sunday, players assembled at the courts and prepared for the final day of the event. In the two featured title matches, local favorite Tom Virtue, and Mario Ancic attempted to win their first tournament title by taking on Bob Bales and doubles legend, Rick Leach. Bob, returning to the tour after his last win in Indian Wells, showed he had not missed a beat with his tennis finesse in defeating Tom and Mario in a close match.
The second final between first time competitor, Roger Stein, and former top 50 singles player, Cyril Saulnier, vs. Joel Pashcow and former tour player, Kevin Kim, emerged victorious; winning the title after a great match.
Congratulations to the winners and finalists! Both matches featured exceptionally entertaining tennis for all of the spectators.
The leader board shows Joel Pashcow in the lead followed by Roger Stein, Bob Bales and Danny Weingeist. The updated tour points determined from the results of this event can be viewed on the leader board.
On behalf of Prostate Cancer Foundation, I would like to take this opportunity to thank The Charles Evans Foundation, the PCF Pro/Am players and donors.
